Speck Office

The project consists of demolishing 3 existing, nondescript office spaces to create a space for a product design company. The concept of this design is “ready made”. Marcel Duchamp, one of the fathers of Dadaism, an artistic movement of the early 20th century that hoped to abolish traditional aesthetic forms, displayed ordinary objects at exhibits. He called the art “ready made”. Art manifests itself in many ways. The stairs within the space came from a massive metal graveyard, an airplane salvage yard in the Mojave Desert. It is a retractable staircase from a 727 airplane. For those of us who grew up playing with lego blocks, lincoln logs, and tonka toys, this expresses a way to interject play into a work environment.
