sunmor house

palm springs, california

The design objective of this project involves the preservation of one of Palm Springs mid-century modern icons. The Alexander Company delivered modern architecture to the masses. However, little is known of another pioneer, Bob Higgins; a predecessor of Alexander Homes. This house, built in 1955, was the model home for the Sunmor neighborhood, and was designed by the renowned firm of Wexler & Harrison Architects. It suffered years of neglect, yet maintained it’s original integrity via form, structure, and plan. It has been restored to Palm Springs Golden Age; testimony that creative architecture stands the test of time.

This project has been published in California Homes Magazine.
